Concert PhotographyPosted by Kris Kellens Sun, August 22, 2010 20:08:06A hot saturday night, somewhere deep in the fields of the quiet village of Ploegsteert, a great night of blues was in store.
Walked in when Xavier Pillac took the stage. Wonderful performer from France bringing that good old blues vibe that appeals so much to me.

But the star of the evening was the highly anticipated Ana Popovic. Finally her tour brought her back to Belgian soul. After playing a 70.000 people crowd in Belgrade, she still puts all her energy in these smaller, but oh so fine events.

She's bringing out a live DVD, recorded at Trasimeno lake in Italy. Release date 1 september. If you're interested, contact me or visit www.anapopovic.org. My fellow members of Ana's Streetteam and I will be happy to make sure you can buy a copy.

EventPosted by Kris Kellens Thu, August 12, 2010 21:32:48Our little planet is traveling through the remains of comet Swift-Tuttle, causing a rain of shooting stars around these days in August. I just had to try to take some shots. The result was meager to say the least, but the beauty of our nightly sky was overwhelming. Maybe better luck tonight.

Concert PhotographyPosted by Kris Kellens Wed, August 04, 2010 22:54:28No pressure this time. Just a relaxed little concert in a small park near my home town. Jean Blaute and Eric Melaerts are two reknowned artists, mostly using their musical talents as band members of many Belgian artists, now playing their favorite songs. True music.

Concert PhotographyPosted by Kris Kellens Wed, August 04, 2010 22:46:22Psychedelic, bombastic rocksongs on a beautiful summer evening in the garden of a modern art museum... Is there any better way to relax? I don't think so. Mercury Rev was wild, overwhelming, a little strange and exciting. as most things should be in life!

Concert PhotographyPosted by Kris Kellens Tue, July 20, 2010 22:36:2318/07/2010 - I've said it before, but mark my words this time. This lady is going to be big soon! Trixie moved to the States recently, but for the fantastic Gent Jazz Festival, she returned to her former home city. Unfortunately mr. Daniel Lanois from her band Black Dub, got into an accident and couldn't be there. But Trixie gathered some of the best musicians she could find to back her up during what can only be discribed as a magical gig. She's growing stronger every time I see her.

Concert PhotographyPosted by Kris Kellens Tue, July 20, 2010 22:27:1718/07/2010 - Joe Bonamassa... a big name in the blues scene and praised by many. Something to look forward to any day. The man is simply a god on his wide variety of Gibson Les Pauls. Blues comming from deep within! As it should be!

Concert PhotographyPosted by Kris Kellens Tue, July 20, 2010 22:13:3618/07/2010 - Me and jazz, we get acquainted, but the love still doesn't run deep... unless I encouter amazing bands like the Japanese Soil & "Pimp" Sessions... They play "Death Jazz". Never seen anything quite like it. Piano, bass, trompet sax and an agitator (oh yeah), make for thumping, exciting, raw, powerful, haunting and smooth music all at the same time. Check them out, you might be pleasantly surprised, though I guess it's hard to capture their live vibe on an album.

Concert PhotographyPosted by Kris Kellens Fri, July 02, 2010 21:43:2701/07/2010 - Second part of the show!
Two guys... a guitar and a drumkit... and one hell of a dirty, groovy blues rock sound! The Black Box Revelation in one of Belgiums finest bands. Lots of attitude, good rythms and catchy hooks. If you like The Black Keys, Band of Skulls or The White Stripes, you'll sure like this band too. Possibly even more!
